Painting Plastic Outdoor Chairs

I have so many pins on my Pinterest Boards and after my trip to Maine I was very inspired to attempt one of the projects.  In Maine everyone and mean EVERYONE has Adirondack chairs in their front yards!  Well I have two plastic ones in my backyard but they are old and very weathered.  I know I could go buy two new ones but then my old ones would in up in the landfill.  Very Sad idea.  But they would look great with a fresh coat of paint!  At first I thought I would do traditional white but... how boring is that.

After reading all the pins on my Pinterest Board on how to paint plastic chairs I headed out to my local home improvement store and purchased six cans of paint especially made for plastic.  It took three coats to cover them but I love the new look.

My Herb Garden

I love this time of year when the trees start to show buds of new growth, red buds and crab apple trees start to color the drive home from work, and the dirt is just begging to be turned over for spring planting.  This past weekend we broke 80 degrees here in Texas and I couldn't wait to my hands dirty!

My poor neglected herb garden needed some serious TLC.

 

First I had to get all the leaves out.

 

 

 

 Merlin thought this was great fun!

 

 

Then off to the store for new annuals, potting soil and mulch.

 

 

Yumm!  I couldn't resist!  Warning! keep mint in its own container or it will take over your garden!

 

 

Pruning really should be done in the fall but these perennials are hardy and will come back this early in the spring.

 

 

I don't seem to ever have enough fresh basil so I bought 4 plants this year.

 

 

 

Leaves gone, herbs pruned and replanted and garden mulched!  Ahh I can almost taste the delicious fresh dishes I'll be using these herbs in this summer!

 

Even Merlin agrees!

 

 

 

 

In Like a Lion Out Like a Lamb

So today's weather forecast is a 20 percent chance of showers after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

I can't decide if that is a lion or a lamb.  Here in Texas I would consider sunny high of 75 a perfect lamb whereas a high of 40 and thunderstorms a perfect lion.

Where did this saying come from anyway?  I love Google.  Instant information.

“If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb?”
Is there any truth to this saying??? Weather sayings are as colorful as our imagination. While many sayings are based on careful observations and turn out to be accurate, others are merely rhymes or beliefs of the people who came before us.
Those people often believed that bad spirits could affect the weather adversely, so they were cautious as to what they did or did not do in certain situations. Those beliefs often included ideas that there should be a balance in weather and life. So, if a month came in bad (like a lion), it should go out good and calm (like a lamb).
With March being such a changeable month, in which we can see warm spring-like temperatures or late-season snowstorms, you can understand how this saying might hold true in some instances. We can only hope that if March starts off cold and stormy it will end warm and sunny, but the key word is hope. However, this saying seems be to more of a rhyme rather than a true weather predictor.

A dry March and a wet May?Fill barns and bays with corn and hay.
As it rains in March so it rains in June.
March winds and April showers? Bring forth May flowers.

Sewing on Sunday

I just couldn't stop sewing yesterday!  Don't you love it when the creative energy just flows and flows?  Here are a few things I worked on throughout the day.

I did take a break from the machine to get some sunshine and stretch my muscles.  I planted the herbs I bought last week

and read while enjoying the beauty of my labors.
